Where to paddle in Revelstoke?
There are many rivers and lakes around Revelstoke. Here are a few most popular spots. Paddle Revy doesn’t recommend taking boats on the rivers unless you are an experienced paddler with a group who knows the river in its current conditions. Paddlerevy.ca is not responsible for any injuries or deaths caused by going to unknown places. Every paddler has to sign a waiver and rental agreement, where you can find all this information in more detail.
Lake Revelstoke – 5th Mile boat launch
The most popular spot for flatwater paddling close to Revelstoke, past the dam, you can enjoy paddling around waterfalls and big bluffs, which is a favorite place for climbers, as you can climb right from the water up to 100m cliffs. Don’t go close to the dam, and be very careful in windy conditions.
Upper Arrow Lakes – 6th Mile flats
This place very depends on the recent level of the Columbia River. When the river is high, you can paddle right close to the road; when the water is low, you have to walk a bit to get to the water. There are some amazing views of the surrounding glaciers. Don’t go here if you don’t know the area. Strong current hazard.
Columbia River float
There are multiple places you can get in and out of the Columbia River. You need to keep in mind that in the section of the river close to downtown Revelstoke and above are strong currents caused by the dam right above, so you need to be experienced with paddling in moving water, know the area, and know rescue procedures.
